Christmas For Kids Fundraiser

The Christmas for Kids fundraiser is hosted by Big Hearts and Open Arms Inc. (BHOA), a local non-profit, that administers the program and will be held at the LINCOLN COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS on December 9, 2023. BHOA donates a portion of the proceeds to Shop with a Cop.
The fundraiser is an all day event that is open to the public and includes a host of games, raffles, and fun! Prizes are donations from individuals and businesses to promote raising of funds for the program. Your contribution of prizes and/or attending the event is very appreciated by the local kids that we are able to assist in providing adequate winter coats and Christmas gifts they otherwise may not receive.
In recent years the Coats and Boots program helps about 150 children and the Toys program helps with giving out over 2,000 toys per year to local children. We know that the money raised sounds like a significant amount of money, and it is, however when we're assisting 250+ children a year, that's at least $80 per child to get boots, coat and toys. BHOA non-profit board members and supporters spend Black Friday shopping for this program, as well as finding deals in the Spring when unsold coats, boots, and toys are on sale. The more that can be saved finding sales helps offset the high price in season. While $80 per child still seems generous, imagine that husky high school senior who needs a working winter jacket and boots but all that's available costs more than $80 for the pair, do we tell the child sorry? No, we budget and save where and when we can so we can help all those in need who come to us.
This time of year means so much to the board members; to be able to help the children and to see all of you caring supporters, who enable us to carry this program on. It truly takes a village.
